The Aztec Sun is a well-known and prized artifact of the pre-contact Mesoamerican Aztec society. It is also commonly referred to as the “calendar stone” and serves as a representation of the five eras of the sun from Aztec mythology. The stone is large, wonderfully geometric, and intricate in detail. The design includes substantial symbolism and hidden meanings relevant to Aztec mythology and culture.
